Lionfish Pics
I've ftp'd some pics of our Lionfish to my Website so you can see them if you wish without waiting for them all to load. They are indexed, so you just click the filename.
Some were taken with Steve's or my hand in the water to show relative size, and some were taken from the top of the water during feeding.
A couple show our two Triggers - Red-Tail and Picasso, and our Maroon Clown.
These are all from the 125G FOWLR tank.
Here's the URL:

I have seen Shirleys tanks in person and I must say WOW! The fish are all beautiful. The reef tank is simply gorgeous. Hey Shirley, have you taken any pics of the 120 since you have redecorated? I would like to see them if you have. How are the frags doing?
See ya,
Kervin

Doug -- the hand shot is by request of another member...
Glad you like the pics!
Kevin, your frags are doing GREAT! The Pacific Tang carried the little toadstool off to places unknown, and we looked everywhere (that fish carries things around like a kittycat!) Then, yesterday, it was back! So, we are making sure it doesn't happen again...
I've taken a BUNCH of pics. Just have to get them cropped and resized, then I will post all of them as thumbnails that enlarge to 5x7's. Maybe tomorrow, but maybe Monday.
Thanks for all your compliments, and the 120 looks SO MUCH BETTER!!!!! I'll have to give a little write-up on that ordeal, too.
Thanks again, OH, and GOOD MORNING!!! (I'm going to sleep now.)

Well, I took a few of my own hand while holding the camera in my other, and TRYING to keep an eye on the Lion...but it was pretty awkward. SO, I got Steve to cooperate and he asked me if I were trying to collect his insurance
He's not aggressive at all, and the "spines up" shot was taken as he swam away from my hand...but I don't feed him from my hand - he's just too quick and send water everywhere when he hits the top.
Show Quality?? You mean they have fish shows when the fish aren't breeding like guppies?
Glad you liked the pics!

Thanks, everyone, for the compliments on our Lion! I should mention that we got him at Aquarium World in Lafayette, IN, and he was in a small butter tub, the 1-lb size tub, when we were acclimating him...and we got him in Feb or March of 2001, about two years ago.
He started eating "non-live" food after 6 weeks. He now eats thawed raw shrimp, live minnows, and mysis shrimp if the chunks are big enough and if he's hungry enough. He gets the minnows about 1/wk or 1/in 2wks. He eats the shrimp about 3xwk.
Shirley (P.S. I added another hand shot that failed to ftp the first time...)

Shirley, IMO ,ditch the minnows. mebbe try something along the lines of some chunk frozen food, (somewhat thawed) i even use tilapia fillets,or sole ,,,,cut into strips to look like minnows/silversides(like that matters to my chow hounds) soak em in Selcon when i thaw them out, a lot cheaper , and easier and healthier than minnows. got nothing against minnows/goldfish(in infrequent moderation) heck i even do the Sea-World/zoo trick, i place Hicari pellets in the fillets so MR. slow stalker can get some pellets b4 the other fish in the tank beat him to food.
trout chow (high protein), hicari pellets, any frozen food(aquarium trade ) or suitable "people" frozen sea food fare works for me.
heck, the guys in my 180 even like to get blender mush cubes once inna while

Thanks, Jeff. I'll do that. The other fish eat the chunks of formula I and II and the Julian Sprung Sea Veggies, but the Lion won't.
He doesn't go for silversides the way he does shrimp, and I've been worried shrimp was too "fattening" or something like that I heard once.
I'll try the pellets trick. What are Tilapia pellets?
Thanks,
Shirley

Shirley, what i meant was,,,i put trout chow pellets/Hicari cichlid pellets , or even Tetra Jumbo-min sticks into the fish fillets i offer.
kind of a booster offering , since the lion misses a lot of pellets when then other fish get 'em b4 he does.
i think the shrimp is OK for the lion (Jerel knows what to soak them in to remove whatever preservs' are left in/on them)
clam ,crab meat works nice too, as long as it is fresh/frozen and not look like it's been sprayed/coated with too many chems.
seafood counter type stuff at the g-stores prob is best, avoid oily type seafood.
i've watched my lion check out/eat brine and mysis too
and flake food. had mine for about 7-8 yrs. other than a bit of tail fin "nippage" he get along fine
BTW: i give the tank a couple o' dozen feeder goldfish mebbe once a yr. jus' to let them retain the thrill o' da hunt.
