Question

lawnmower blenny and amphipods

Hello all,

After a long 8 months with my tank I am starting to see pods running around on my rocks. They are very small and almost clear in color and look to be flat. My problem is that not only have I discovered them but so has my lawnmower blenny. I think he is eating them. Is this going to be a problem? Will he/she deplete my pod population, or do they reproduce at a quick rate that I should be ok.

Thanks,

How long have you had your blenny? If you've had him a while, I promise you he's been aware of all your pods long before you have been. If they are able to grow in population with him in there, than you are fine. If he's a recent addition than there's a whole nother story.

I have had him for maybe 2 months. I have always seen him picking at my rocks but up till last week I have never seen any tiny bugs. I am so happy .

I just noticed pods in my tank last night.. Got home form work and saw them scurrying back into the sandbed.. I have also had a Lawnmower for sometime now.. It was one of my first.. I have also noticed a bunch of feather dusters starting to come out.. and from the looks of things I should have an abundance of little feather dusters here in a while.. Tank set in 3-02... If from I am starting to see I don't think you will have a problem..

Yip you shouldnt have a problem at all. My wife has a lawnmower in her 20 and it actually has more pods than does my 110. But like they say "Ahhhhh Thats Life"

My blenny does the same thing.... I just keep feeding the tank with phtyto to make sure that there is ample food for the micro and meio fauna to grow and repruduce. I also grow macro in the tank so they have a safe haven. She does not seem to go near the macro bed.

MROK12, tell me more about phtyto. What is it, and is that the full name? I add iodine, reef vitamin supplement, and calcium. Should I be adding something else?

Thanks,
