clownfish and LTA

one of my false perculas started going near my LTA today for the first time. he seems to almost be picking at the LTA, as if it has food on it and the clown is trying to get it off. the clown is still not swimming amongst the tentacles, like i've often seen other clowns do in this relationship, but i'm curious if anyone has seen anything like this b/f and if so, do u know what it means? also, could this be a method the clown is using to get used to the LTA and it'll eventually start living in it?

after some further observation, i'm now almost convinced that the clown is in fact picking food out of the anemone's mouth. is this normal? although i did read in another post about a clown bringing food to the anemone, i have never seen or heard of it happening the other way around. i'm pretty excited to see some relationship forming between the two and i'm just trying to figure out if this is a good thing.

There are no guarantees, but I would bet the clown will at some point "move in". Picking at or just hanging around the anemonee as opposed to avoiding it, is usually a start.

This is sort of the way it was explained to me...

A clown will think of an anemone as it's 'Happy Place' . It's kind of like a squirel that burries a nut in the ground for later. The clown thinks it's storing the food but in reality is feeding the anemone. It's a little goofy for theory but makes total sense at the same time!

Give it time and see if it takes to the anemone. Sometimes false percs are tough to get to take to a host. Here's a pic of mine..

sorry to keep bringing this thread back, but my false percula has in fact made himself a home in my LTA and it really is a great site (i was actually cheering a little). i only hope now that he continues to go in and if i'm lucky, the other clown joins him. thnx for the advice.
