Hi and welcome!

While a tang might eat romaine and appear to "like" it...it is a poor substitute for real marine seaweeds and algae. Real live algae like Gracilaria are available from http://www.ipsf.com . All tangs should be given sheets of nori to nibble on http://www.drsfostersmith.com/produc...=6&pCatId=5026 . You can find nori in health food and in asian sections of some grocery stores. It is dried seaweed in sheets. Be sure to get unflavored! You can also give tangs frozen spirulina cubes or flakes. This along with a diet of mysis shrimp and homemade mush will keep you fish happy and healthy.

HTH-
Brooke

don't know what brand it is, but at the lfs today i saw an add/poster for some seaweed/algae sheets. it said:

"when you want a salad, use romaine. when you feed your fish, use something better"

i never understood why people feed lettuce to fish, it has practically no nutritional value whatsoever, that's why poeple always eat salads on diets :-)

Ditto what Brooke has said! I bought 50 sheets of nori for $16.95 for my yellow tang. I fold a sheet several times and attach it to the LR with a rubber band or you can buy a lettuce clip. I also use the "mush"(homemade with raw shrimp, clams, raw fish, nori, etc.).
Yellow tangs and all tangs are grazers and will do so all day long so they need to have a certain amount of "greens" to keep them healthy and happy.
