Twin, I'll be the first to admit my knowledge of eels is pretty thin but like most eels they don't need bright light, feed on crabs and such. An old Fishes Atlas I have lists the gold spot but not the banded. It does say they like to burrow in the sand so a deep fine sand bed may be appreciated, though it sounds like they'ed wreak havoc in live sand bed in reef tank. Hopefully someone has more up to date info or specifics.

Let us know how it goes, I have heard good stories and bad stories about the banded Eel. I used to want one, but didnt want to loose anything I have currently in the tank, I read that they were kind of agressive.

keep us posted.
