Any luck with Bicolor Angels?

Has anyone had any luck with bicolor angels in the past? I seem to remember something about them being difficult, but I'm not sure if I'm thinking about the bicolor or the Rock Beauty. There are a bunch of them around in area pet stores so I started thinking about them again. Thanks in advance.

Bi-Color dwarf angels aren't the hardiest of fish, no. If you have an established tank with good water quality and no overly aggressive tank mates, that's a start. Their diet seems to be the biggest problem. I'd feed a lot of Nori and the frozen formula Angel food (contains sponges), both treated with Selcon or the like, and not let it pig out on meaty foods.

They also aren't the best choice for a reef tank; they are "nibblers" more often than not.

Hi Elvis-

We had one of these beauties before our big crash. Just make sure you buy one from a reputable fish store who buys hand-caught specimens that are quarantined and eating well before they are purchased. Most good fish stores will allow you to put a "hold" on a fish like this to make sure it is eating well and healthy. The diet mentioned above is what ours got. It was a little slow to eat the nori from a lettuce clip, but he eventually got the hang of it.

good luck-
Brooke
