What cleans the outside of the tank's glass

Ok guys, I've been cleaning the outside glass with Windex and sparkle paper towels. It still leaves smears!
I've even tried washing it with a hot wash cloth and soapy water first. Tried the vinegar and newspaper thing too. Everything leaves smears. Someone told me it's the wax in the paper towels.
Is there a quicker/better way?

Every time I get in the tank (which is constant) I leave water drips all over the glass.

GOOD MORNING

Jerel

Instead of using paper towels, try using a real towel. I use Windex too, but I am always sure to turn off my skimmer before I use it. It can be deadly if it gets in the tank Anybody know of something better than windex to clean the glass? Good morning

I tried the towel too. It left dust bunnies
I thought about a shammy, but haven't tried it yet.

Jerel.
I just use plain water and paper towels and/or clean handtowels. I didn't know there was wax in paper towels....I am a Bounty Select-a-Size man myself!

Maybe a pressure washer????

I've had good luck with dry paper towels. If there's a lot of "crap" on the glass, I'll use a glass cleaner first, and then go over it again with dry paper towels and a lot of elbow grease.

Good Morning!

That's what I get. Then you leave a smear over here, go to get it, and leave a smear over there, and on and on. Grrrrr

My wife Pat got this red cloth and you run it under very hot water and then wring it as dry as you can and then wipe the glass and it is great!
She bought it and I have no idea where or how much(they have a way of doing that) and will ask her if she remembers when she gets up! Johnny

Hello Pat, it's morning, wake up! LOL

That's what I was thinking too, something like a chamis for a car. Thanks Johnny

Old well washed diapers work even better than old T shirts. Usually water but a bit of vinegar if its stubborn smears

The smears are mostly salt buildup which is not absorbed very well onto most fabrics/cloths. The only way I have found to get rid of it semi-effectively is to fill up a squirt gun with RO/DI water and blast the front of the tank for about five minutes. I usually dry it with a paper towel at that time and then repeat.

Wink

Boy, you were bored this morning, lol!

Next time you're in Walmart, Target, whatever look for the "cheesecloth" or "flour sack" towels, they don't leave fuzz behind, especially if you wash them first.

We are talking a glass tank, right? Use 20/20 windshield cleaner, in a spray bottle, diluted fairly heavily so you don't need to rinse and make sure you dry it completely.

Classic.

Anyway, that squirt gun idea sounds interesting, how do you prevent everything else around the tank from getting soaked though? This will give me an excuse to get out the ol Super Soaker from back in the day;0
