Species Limitations of BB tanks

Hi guys.

Ive been debating wether to go BB or DSB with a new tank setup.

The main problem is that im not completely sure i want to restrict myself to certain species with a BB.

I was wondering if a few of the BB specialists on this site such as Spanky could comment on the species that you believe WONT live happily in a BB tank.

Im also wondering what kind of stocking rates you guys have.

Do you all have sumps/refuges with your BB systems?.

You definitely wouldn't be able to keep large populations of bristle worms.

LOL well that's true.

Nafe, what comes to mind is anything that needs sand for food or habitat. Like some of the sand sifting goatfish or some of the anemones.

stingrays are out.

jawfish, some wrasses, and some gobies would be uncomfortable.

most of this goes back to what exactly do you want to keep in your system. there are some critters that just need certain criteria. for a while there we were thinking of making the 20 high in Nikki's system a jawfish tank. it would only have sand and some jawfish. that way when it gets filled up it would be easy to replace without dealing with alot of LR.
