Refractometer

Hey Everyone!

I just bought a portable refractometer......I love it!! No more swing arm.

My question is about tempature compensation.....do I still need to compensate for the temp? Or am I good to go with whatever it reads!!

My water is still freezing at 19C I have a while to go the heaters are working hard!!

Steve

Depends. If your refractometer is marked "ATC" it has "automatic temperature compensation" - in other words it considers temperature.

The refractometer I have is an ATC so I don't worry about temp.

If the refractometer is the same temp as the water/air, it should not really be a problem, the problem comes when testing a 4 degree C sample in a 25 degree C room when the refractometer is room temp.
