auto top-off!

im currently setting up 2 mantis tanks that both suffer from massive evaporation.
i was wondering if i could setup a automatic top-off that would keep my salinity at 1.025 by dosing f/w.
i would like to have them hidden under my cabinet if possible.
does anyone have any ideas as to how to setup this up, if so could you supply a image or a link as im anti-handyman!

thanks!

I use an auto top-off made by Ultralife. They're available from Premium Aquatics for around $62. Basically it's a float that is electronically attached to a relay that can be used to energize a powerhead whenever the water level in your tank or sump drops. You have to supply a resevoir, a powerhead, and some 1/2" tubing. The resevoir can be placed in your stand (yeah, right, as if there's any room left under there ). It comes with complete instructions and is simple to set up.

Noise isn't really much of an issue. There is a faint click when the relay energizes, but there shouldn't be any noise from the pump. I ran out of space in my stand about four gadgets ago. I have a 5 gallon bucket on the floor next to my tank. I just put a plant in front of it.

I just set up a topoff system for my 110. I bought a Kent Marine float valve which does take up some sump space (not too much) but keeps the water level dead on with a slow drip. The supply is gravity fed from a 5 gallon drinking water container. Cost me about 35 bucks for everything. Here's the URL: DIY Topoff

I tried the siphon and unless you have a remarkably rigid container it will be crushed by the vacuum, or a least squeezed to the extent that more water than you want will get dosed at once. Kent valve works great.

Have Fun,
Fred

How about a Nurce? I have one and it works great! No moving parts or float valves to get stuck.
