This is just my aprx setup. This is changing as I go, but I've broken my setup into 4 phases, the first three being equipment. here is a list of what my Plan is. the 4th phase is live rock/sand to cycle, but thats a large chunk of change as well. I'm guessing after shipping costs my LR & LS is going to run between 500 and 700. The 2 LFS in my area Sell Live Rock and sand for 6.99 and 8.99 per Lb, and at that cost I can get it cheaper onling even after shipping..
This table isn't complete because I haven't purchased everything yet, but it should give you an idea.
Code:
Price Qty Ship Total
Phase 1: Tank
75 Gallon Tank $195.00 1 $- $195.00
75 Gallon 1 1/2" Holes Drilled (2) $10.98 2 $- $21.96
75 Gallon Stand, Canopy + Plumbing $175.00 1 $- $175.00
Custom Sump $30.00 1 $- $30.00
MAG950 For Sump $59.95 1 $- $59.95
Phase 2: Canopy
WON-PHD150 Heater $39.95 2 $- $79.90
MAG1800 for CLS System $109.95 1 $- $109.95
ICECAP 660 36" 4 VHO Retro Kit $324.95 1 $- $324.95
Phase 3: Water & Circulation
MR1 Skimmer $210.00 1 $12.00 $222.00
MAG1200 for skimmer $89.95 1 $- $89.95
RO/DI Water System (100GPD) $199.99 1 $- $199.99
Dead Sand (Per 40 lb Bag) $11.95 4 $50.00 $97.80
TOTAL: $1,606.45

Wow, I really like that cost break down Mnemic. Someone should t.f.a.
I know you said it wasnt complete but, what phase will test kits and salt mix be in. Also, are you planning on dripping kalk or using supplements. what about misc. power heads, and a xtra heater to for mixed saltwater?
just some questions, sorry if i seem like i am prying but this looks real similar to the 75 i plan on setting up.

Hi James - you don't mention what kind of critters you plan to keep.
I have a 72g tank (48" x 18" x 19" high), that I plan to eventually keep SPS and clams in. So, for my setup, I will be using 250W 6500K Iwasakis with 2 x 110W VHO actinics.
I can't help you with skimmer, sump, pumps, etc. because all my other equipment is extra large to handle a future 300g we plan to incorporate into the system.
At least I could chime in about my lighting though.

Right now I'm just in Phase 2, but test kits and all of that I will be getting at the beggining of phase 4....
I'm going to try and do a DIY Kalk Dripper for now, until I get a Calcium Reactor.
I've got a small waterpump from a friend I'll be using for my salt mixes, as well as a spare heater from a Fresh Tank that I'll be using for it. I was planning on spending 5-10 bucks ona Rubbermaid container to do it in from walmart, as they are not expensive.
Far as the Custom sump thing... I tried it, and it works, but I'm not sure if I will keep it or not yet.
Basicly I made a 25 Gallon box out of plywood, and then put plexyglass inside of it and sealed it up with 100% silicone. It holds water with no problems. I would have done a rubbermaid based setup, but I can't find one that will fit my available dimmensions below my tank. I'll prob end up doing a custom plexyglass box from a local plastics shop eventualy tho.

oh yea, its important to note my tank is based on a Closed Loop System, and does not incorporate Powerheads in the tank.
I have one Big pump used for the circulation, with multiple outlets in varius parts of the tank using pvc.
