10 Gallon Tank Drilled Successfully!!!!!!

I recently was given a peacock Mantis shrimp from a fellow reefer and I obviously didn't want it in my main reef tank. Wouldn't see it in the refugium or sump, sooooooo time for another tank. I wanted to plumb it to my sump so I used a power head to feed water and put a 1" bulkhead throught the side to return water to the sump. I didn't actually drill a hole I ground a hole with a diamond tipped dremol tool. These were the cheap set form Harbor Freight Tools. I think I paid $2.99 for a mixed set of 10 bits. It took about 15 minutes but it worked like a charm. There was no cracking of chiping of any kind. When I have a chance I'll post a picture.

It was definately worth the risk for a $10 tank.

See Ya

Kewl, a dremel is a reefers best friend, actually the thin tanks arent that hard to grind out if you are careful, My friend did his own 75 at the same time I had mine drilled and it took an hour, he built up dams around the holes with clay and used lots of water to cool the glass, but the thin 10's are easy and cheap if you OOPSIE

Braver than I. For some reason I feel like putting a hole in my tank is like jumping out of a perfectly good airplane. I keep saying I am going to do it but I sit down to try and get weak in the knees.

Good Job, hope to see the pics, maybe even a mpg next time.
