Our peppermints used to hang out underneath and on top of our carpet anemone...but they never ate it. They lived with it for about 3 years! The anemone was eventually placed in a display tank at Inland Aquatics....combination of size and the fact that tank came down last spring.

Hi!
Are you feeding your Peppermint, Randy?
There are always isolated incidents of shrimp (even those comensal with anemones) nabbing an occasional tentacle, but if it starts getting to be a frequent habit on the part of the shrimp, then it likely is wanting for food, and you should distract it with tastier grub

Hey Randy,
Are you sure it's a true peppermint shrimp and not a Camel Shrimp? Camels have similiar coloring but tend to be brighter red and white with the striping more pronounced. They also tend to stay more visible in the tank. The one thing you can't miss about them though is the hump on their back and the fact that they have beady black eyes on stalks, like a bug.
OK, that's two things.

I'm positive that its not a camel eating it. I have to Camelback's that I have had since I started the tank, and they have never even looked at my corals or anenomes. these pepermints are new additions (a month) to help control my aptaisa. they only started this about 5 days ago. my anenome look health other than the lack of tentacles

Way back when....we had Camel Shrimp. They ate our button polyps and so we caught them (took two weeks!) and traded them in. Our Peppermints have never touch our corals, except to walk on them to steal bits of food.
I've seen Camels labeled as Peppermints....and while I don't doubt that you said they aren't camels...are you sure?

I am 100% positive that it is one of the three peperments eating it. I have 2 camelbacks, 3 peps, 1 skunk, and 1 gost shrimp. I can say with no doubt that its not my camels.

I think they sneak out when you aren't looking and grab a bite, then shove the peppermints in when you show up....

I seriously wouldn't put it past them
Once I caught mine eating my button and star polyps they were a PITA to get rid of, unlike the other peps or cleaners that would come crawl on my hand, the camels hid whenever I came in the room It took well over a month to rid the tank of them

I remember well the trials and tribulations of catching three of the little monsters...hopping like grasshoppers all over the place but always managing to land IN the tank rather than on the floor....
