ID please

Does anyone know what this is? It started out as a small green dot and now it has grown into this. Is it a good or bad thing?

It sure looks like an anemone. The fact that its growing on the substrate would lead me to believe its a tube anemone, but I have never seen one split into three parts like that. Then again I have no experience with these and Ill let the experts ID it for you.

How quickly has it grown and have you been feeding it? How long has your tank been up and running?

To have something like that grow out of nowhere means you must have great water conditions and thats a good thing.

I noticed it a couple of days ago and it was the size of the top of a pin. Yesterday it is a big as a dime. Have not been feeding it but it must be getting what it needs or would not be growing. My tank has been up for about 1 1/2 years. Havent even added anything in a long time so where did it come from??

Allyson--

I think those little worm things are some kind of very small feature dusters. I have tons of them too.. EVERYWHERE and if you put a magnifying glass up to them you can see the little crown sticking out.

I tend to disagee with the feather duster theory they dont have the tube that I can see they have a stubby body like an anem. but as far as ID I havent a clue.

Patti,
Do the tentacles stay out or does they retract into the top? If they retract, does the top "pucker up" to at least partially close the tube.

Hiya,

The curly whirly worms are most likely to be Spirorbis sp.

As for the polyps, hmmm, they remind me of partially retracted Yellow polyps (Parazoanthus sp.?). Although you did say that they were more of a green colour. Dunno really just an idea

Regards

Lisa
