I have had CBS in every reef setup I have ever owned and have never know them to eat corals. Your assumption about the pods is most likely correct. And they will decimate a
pod population in your reef.
I currently have a very large mated pair. The LFS owner didn't really want to sell them to me cause they had been returned for allegedly eating two small fish (I say allegedly since I don't know if they really killed the fish or was just caught scavaging the remains). Well I talked her into selling them to me anyway. Has a been a great addition to the tank. I do have a
Longnose hawkfish and a small 6 line wrasse. They are both still alive and kicking.
I really only like them in mated pairs. I do also have a tried and true formula for making a mated pair out of a single male and a single female. It really can be done although most will say it can't.
