Orange Leather Coral?
Hey Folks...just came back from the LFS...they had a great looking piece...they labelled it an orange leather...it also had another name with it but for the life of me I can't remember it...I questioned it because it looked somewhat like a carnation coral...which is not what I want at all....has anyone had one before?....again it looked like the polyps from a carnation coral...but it was standing straight up under the halides...so I'm kinda leary about buying a non-photosynthetic coral is all....
I'm rambling....sorry...RJ

Hey Rob, was it a chili coral or maybe a schleronephthelea, I looked on FFE and they have no pics
Chilis are sposed to be easy, the others are similar to carnations and would require feeding

I picked it up today...it is a nepthea sp. it looks great and all my reading leads me to beleive that it doesn't require feedings..

RJ, if the coral you purchased is indeed a Nephthea sp. it's as likely as not that it will be aposymbiotic. Usually they are not brightly coloured. The only ones I've possibly (I'm no expert taxonomist) seen were well on there way to melting at the LFS. Could you keep us updated on how yours fairs? I've seen an orange Lobophytum sp. fwiw.
