what the heck is this??


It appeared overnight, kinda hard to see with just the actinics on, but I had to snap a pic for fear it would be gone later today. Upon close inspection it looks like little dots, is this some kind of egg sac perhaps?( I dont think that snail had anything to do with it, he looks like he is just munching by it.)

Mike,

It looks as if your cerith snail is laying eggs! They do this pretty often in my tank but not to many of them make it to adult hood as my fish and shrimp like to eat them.

Do you have a nudibranch, I've seen ones I've had past lay egg ribbons like that.

nope, no nudi, it is the cerith, after watching the snail it is tending to them in some way. I have seen similar looking strings around the tank before, but never so big and never on the glass.

After the lights tuned on, I found 3 more patches of eggs about he same size! Apparently there is some sort of cerith orgy going on

cool, now i know what cerith eggs look like. i guess what i have on my glass is not cerith eggs.
