The Stork is coming...
NO not me... I'm done with that
My pair of Banggais (from Sally) are expecting!
I've noticed the male IS male -- large square jaw, he hasn't been eating lately -- now he looks like he's got cotton stuffed in his cheeks but he's not coming out of his hidey hole under Flo the large Bubble Coral. When I got these two they were very small and we didn't know what their genders were. I lucked in and wound up with male and female.
Well today he peeked out and from his slightly open mouth I could see little silver and black STRIPES!
Glad I've got the brine pots rattling ... just hope I can somehow retrieve the babies before they become fish and coral fodder...
OH and today I brought L'il Bit, the 4 1/2 month old baby seahorse to join his larger cousins here at the store.
I'll try to post pix in a bit.
Jenn

Congratulations! Baby Banggers are soooo cute! Good luck getting the babies out... they're fast!
I honestly don't remember whether you've bred Banggais before... seems to me that you have (since you're a horse expert and LFS Goddess, what do I know?)
Anyway,
What worked for us (if you don't want to stress Dad by catching him,) is to put a fake urchin in (ball o' epoxy and wooden toothpicks) and when they gather there, use a 1/2" siphon hose and suck them out into your grow out tank. Sounds brutal, but works better than trying to net them - they catch on to that reeeeally fast.
Yay for Baby Banggais!
Danielle
PS. Shirley, when you see fins and eyes, it's usually going to be only a few days max. The eggs hatch in Dad's mouth, and it's so funny to see them try to get out and him slurp them back in. Must be crowded!

Heh yeah!
I saw a little tail sticking out of his mouth before we left (the tank is at the shop) Perhaps in the morning the little bundles of joy will be delivered.

Man your timing is spooky. I can only find my brand (Devcon) at one Ace in all of Atlanta and it's downtown. I was by there this morning for the first time in about six months and went in and loaded up on the stuff. I have some extra if you want it.

Yes please -- I think he's close because I could see the little buggers shifting around just before we left, and dad was "adjusting" quite a bit. At one point I saw two sets of eyes looking out at me.
How exciting!
