Wow looks like you folks have been having some fun with out me. Chris that is close but in my home we do the grand O'Brien Splash. once every couple of weeks I fall inot the tank and the wake left behind me creates a small sunami, this sumni displaces whatever sediment is in the tank. By the time I get out of the tank I have captured all the deritus in my clothing...refreshing to.

Seriously though I find it funny how folks just wont let go of the DSB theory. Its like we think that it is the only source of denitrification. And talk about complications. and all this is so we dont have to simple vacuum out the detritus and associated crap. its the ant farm mentality I tell ya, lol. I pulled the last of my remote DSB's out and stuck it on the side of the house. Well it lasted 3 days and a local reefer came over and shoveled it inot buckets and took it away. brutal

"...grand O'Brien Splash." Mike does that have anything to do with the lake being a little low when I was over at your place the other day?

I'm not sure Chris can be that full of S**T to be successful at it..
Edited add on disclaimer:
This is a good thing as his knowledge and his posts are greatly appreciated here on TRT. Thanks Chris for all the help in the past.

Ahhh, thanks for this information Mike, I had been doing this method naked. I can see now where it would be easier to catch the detritus with ones clothing .

If you don't have a DSB, what do you use or is anything farther than a small bed and LR required along with husbandry?

is it a long hair or short haired feline. i believe the long haired felines would trap more end detritus, keeping you from having to do as often. for those with nano's i would think guinea pigs should do the trick.
