Question

Green Bubble Algae ??

I recently put in a green striped mushroom in my 90 gal tank. They are doing great !! However I noticed on the rock that they came on that there were two small green bubbles. I have heard of green bubble algae and thought that maybe that is what it is. I have no pics right now, but will take some tonight and post later.

I noticed a new green bubble on the other side of the tank now. Should I take them out ? are they bad ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated !!

The mushrooms were put in 6 days ago.

Thanks all

Emerald crabs work best to get rid of them. Try not and punture them as they will spread. Youcan prick them off with a needle or such but have siphon hose there too to pull up the debris. Having 2 people helps with this. Somepeople wait until they get very large and then pry off of rock and remove manually. "I have crabs" and they work great as I just had about 10 spots with bubble algae a few weeks ago. They are slowly disappearing. HTH

Take them out, they are very bad but like Ichthus said, do not puncture them or their spores will spread and you will be well on your way to a major outbreak.

Thanks for the input, would it be better to take the rocks out that they are on and then remove them ?

Or just pop them off inside the tank......or maybe the emerald crabs would just be the way to go.

Do the emeralds have any enemies ?.....should I worry about putting them in with any of my existing crabs, snails, shrimp, fish etc ?

thanks again !!

Lengthy, pretentious, and intermittently incoherent...
But, probably still useful in parts.

Well-written by one who is, I understand, one of the most bashful and modest reef aurthors on the Internet today...

Thanks Darkhorge.....that was a very helpful article....I do love scientist talk......

What I mainly got out of it was to get it out of the tank.

I am assuming that since it was imported on a rock with the coral on it, that I have not created an algae problem, just introduced it. All tank parameters are great and I only have a few small fish so far.

Thanks again to you all for your wise and knowledgeable input. (that was the extent of my scientific talk)
