Do emerald crabs eat bubble algae?

I had heard this and was wondering if it was true? What other critters are good for bubble algae? I am getting over run!

heh...

generally, yes. Minthrax crabs are reported to consume bubble algae. with that said, let it be known that crabs can decide to expand on their menu when they reach a certain size, or for no reason at all. in other words...usually.

I've got a few minthrax in my prop tanks, and I'm considering putting a few in my display for exactly that bubble reason. one of my prop tanks has an emerald who eats it, the other one in another tank won't touch it. go figure.

Also heard a foxface will do it. Tangs are big grazers, but idunno about bubble algae. anyone?

My sailfin tang loes the red bubble algae, he has totally rid my tank of it. As far as the green stuff goes he wont touch it but most of the time its pretty easy to remove manually anyways.

Is there a high risk that if I add a minthrax crab he will go after my fish?

Dunno if my old post pertaining to this problem is in the archives,,,, but in my experience, emeralds only ate candy canes and feather dusters plus who knows what else,,,,, nice paert was i got to remove ALL the rockwork in the 75 only to feed the lil buggers to my clown trigger , try a foxface,,,although mine has not shown a liking for bubble yet,,,,Scott(pirate) has a foxface that wiped out darn near all his bubble (he had it pretty bad,,)
