Algae ID
I have an algae that is starting to overgrow several of my rocks. The algae is course, hair like and dark red in coloration. It sends out runners that put down roots into the rock and then starts to grow upwards towards the light in tufts. I am getting tired of pulling it up only to leave the runners behind.
Thanks for you input.

Hey, GaReefer! Is there any way you can post a pic of the stuff. The more experienced folks here prolly don't need it, but I like to get a view so I can compare with the blankety blank stuff in my tank.

I will see if I can get a pic tonight. I did some cleaning and tried to get most of the large patches out so the samples are limited.

Hmmm, I've never seen that before. Although, it bears a strange resemblance to my garden hose.... sorry, can't help ID that.

I'll guess Coelothrix irregularis. Based on the fact that it's common, grow well in reef tanks, etc. and looks just like that.
