Starting a Tank?

Hey, not sure if this is the correct venue to post this, but figured you could remove it, if needed.

I have a 75 gallon reef tank and for cost reasons would like to revert to a freshwater tank. You know, no more metal halides running, I can take a couple pumps out, no more reverse osmosis water, etc. This all adds up to a savings that I unfortunately could use. Not to mention I transfer soon, and the wife doesn't want the responsibility of the tank on her hands.

Anyway. I am looking for some monetary compensation. We are talking about over a thousand dollars worth of stuff retail, afterall.

Things I have to give up are:

-Approximately 80 lbs of Marshall Is. Live Rock, fully cured and been in my tank for well over a year. No signs of unwanted pests, etc.
-Green Frilly mushrooms. About 7 of them. They expand to about 4 inches accross when full.
-Red Blasto. Small piece. About 3 inches accross. Was superman, but the blue faded over time under my lights, and they are pinkish-red now.
-Various rocks with Bright Orange Zoas.
-Lots of Green Star Polyps (grown over many of the live rocks)
-Green branching Frogspawn.
-Blue-Green Favia.
-two small toadstool leathers that I fragged and have grown nicely.
-Pair of False Percula Clowns
-Black Midas Blenny
-Six line wrasse
-Green Chromis
-Flame Angel
-What's left of a 5 gal pail of Reef Crystals
-Various Chemicals and test kits
-Couple varieties of plants in my refugium
-about 15-20 pounds of live sand (mixed bed of large and small grains)
-about a half dozen blue-leg hermits

Nothing new in the tank in over 6 months. All fish get along and are non-damaging to the corals.

I live in Saint Marys, my number is in the phone book. My email is sjhendricks1@tds.net if you want to send me a shout. Like I said, I am looking for compensation. Not retail prices, mind you, not even close. But if you are looking to come by and take it all for less than triple digits... don't bother. I will keep the tank up and running before I did that. Not trying to be an arse... just letting you know up front.

I would be interested in the Black Midas, the pair of clowns, GSP, Frogspawn and the shroom. Let me know what you want for these. Also, if you plan on staying in the hobby, our club is great. I am the President and I can get you access to the members only section.

I don't mind splitting up a sale, but I have no place to keep part of the stuff. That means if I can't have people take all of it, I would most likely keep it all. I don't want a tank void of life in the living room, and I certainly do not want to just trash the living stuff that people didn't want. The wife is capable to care for the tank... she just would rather not have to.

As far as taking parts of the whole, that would be great, but I would need someone else to take the rest of the stuff. I realize this kind of classifies me as unreasonable... hehe, but what I was looking for is an easy way to unload all the livestock and rock at once.

There is generally someone starting up a tank someplace. I thought my stuff would be just up someone's alley, and it would save them a ton of cash. I spent over 3500 on rock, sand, starter fish and hardware.

-Oh, to answer about the club. I would join, you want me to. I wouldn't have the tank (ideally) anymore, but I have years of reef keeping under my belt. I could prob help out from time to time.

Sorry to see you getting out of SW but I understand. I was talking a few days ago and when I get everything settled down, I will only have 1, maybe 2, SW tanks and the huge one will be FW. I can build/stock a 600 gallon FW tank for less than what a 120 SW setup would cost

I'm kind of sorry to be getting out of the hobby (at least temporarily) too. Seems I have always had a SW set up for like the last fifteen years or so. It will be strange having a FW in its place.

The big cost is actually the halides and the water usage (reverse osmosis). FW will also allow me to take the cooling fan off the tank, and remove the circulation pumps. All in all, it adds up.

I hope you all enjoy the livestock. Seems people really like GSP. The boys will have a ton to frag for the club. Started out as a medium sized rock half covered in the stuff. It now covers about a third of the light exposed rock in the tank.

Anyway, have fun with it!

Adam and Michael picked everything up today. It's all gone. I was planning on storing a lot of my hardware (which I still am going to do) just in case I start up again in the future. I did end up giving them a few powerheads and some wet and dry goods that I was going to store, but changed my mind on at the last minute.

Not sure their complete plan on where everything will end up, but I will say I think there is more there than they can all use. Be sure to talk to them if there was something in the pile that interested you.

Thanks again, all. Hope it all brings years of enjoyment to you like it did me.
