new lights
I am looking to get more light for my tank but do you think that 150 watt hqi is too strong? I was looking at a 75 watt as well and wasn't sure if that would be better. I really like the 150 watt though and I have never done HQI or metal halide lights before.

greg a 150 will boil the water in your tank and bleach out all the coral. I can help you do a 70 watt halide if you want.

Nah I just want some better lights. make my corals happy. I am looking at the 70 watt fixture now. I think 150 would be 2 big and I don't want to have it high up off the tank.

really? I read online that its really hard to do with the aquapod. I mean I will look more but ya the 70 watt sunpod runs around 220 and the 150 I can get for 250 around. I am all for making one I can find out how. I would much rather buy the fixture though as the hindges on my tank hood are broken. anyone know where they have cheaper lights? the 70 watt from current is hard to find. but my tank is only 16.5" wide. not 20"

rule of thumb 5 x gal that should be around your light needs so yes 150 would work but if your have only soft corals you could run less
