We just installed new Tunzes on the Neptune wave maker. Unfortunately, I dropped the power head in the sand and made quite the storm. The Kole tank freaked out and by the end of the day had become an ich magnet. Three days latter everyone came down with it. We pulled all the fish and gave them a 200g sump to hang out in with some copper.
We are taking this lesson and making sure our 300g display has as much of the build done as possible before introducing fish.

I am taking this time to make a strict list of corals and fish. I have decided to stick with mostly SPS. I have a couple of brains that have been with me forever that I just can't bear to part with (No displays at home, since I practically live at the store).

I've also decided to get a calcium reactor on the aquarium (if we can make the space). Since I normally do two-part (the rest of the store will continue to run on kalk and 2-part). We believe its important to represent as many viable options as possible. We have one Deep Sand Bed system, the store is run Bare Bottom (Black acrylic FTW!). Our Displays are Shallow sand beds.

Time sure does fly. This was only two months ago. I had crashed the tank this summer. I underestimated just how much CA and ALK I was going through with the corals. They moved from a 600g system to this tiny 200g-ish system. I neglected to get my 2-part going. After about one month they system crashed hard. When we tested the parameters the ALK was almost down to 5 and the ca was something like 330. Since things looked so bad, we decided to start from scratch.
We put a half to 3/4 of the live rock through an acid bath. Here are a few pictures from that event:

Note: SWE does not officially support the using of muriatic acid. Unofficially...

This is 10 water to 1 MA. Water in the bucket first.

The first rock was neat... but it takes a bit to get to the impressive stage.
