This one came in quite sick, but it ate well... go figure. It healed up over the last month. We fed it lots of little aptasia we caught off shipments, but it took to mysis soon after it arrived as well.

Nice Spongodes.. I got a fairly large colony earlier this year, but it was infected with Monti eating Nudis, and had to get rid of it... watch it for sure as for some reason the Maricultured Spongodes have seen alot of this pest from what I hear...Those MEN's sure love the Spongodes

We have brought in dozzens from ORA and haven't had any issues. I will watch though. Thanks for the heads up.

Some good and a little bad to update.

The tank looks awesome. Most of the corals are getting great growth. We are swamped and understaffed at work right now, so picture taking has gone to the back burner. It probably wont be till after Chinese New Year before we get some time to get the growth shots. The colors are a bit more faded than I like, but all the corals are healthy.
With the addition of the coral rocks on the back and the extra wide depth of the tank, the tek light isn't quite reaching all the corals. We have 5 years of great experience with the standard 6 bulb tek lights over SPS and mixed reefs, but I think its time we moved on with this display. Li is gathering the parts to build a frame to hang a retro fit kit.
I am sad to report the copperband, with no indication, did what new copperbands often do. The scotts in QT dissapeard without a trace as well. I am dissapointed and a bit dishartened with the fish and am taking some time to reconsider the fish list before adding any more.

We did add the new ORA Bird of Paradice, and I was able to consume a second frag of the Red Planet.

There isn't much else to say, besides I am very happy with the direction this aquarium is going!

Car Wash. Frankly, the poor shrimp don't get to do much cleaning with the Gobies always on the Job.

The two Sharknoses are now hanging out together instead of fighting all the time!

ORA had a sale on Hawkin's so i snapped up another for myself. You can see what the lack of light did to the coral (actually the lighter collored one looks more attractive than the healthy one. It has a metallic shimmering hue.

This is one of my favorite corals, I can easily justify two pieces

December shot:

You can see there is no growth yet in this one, and how the color faded. It is "basing-out", as we like to call it here, however.

Oh that reminds me. Li finished the upgraded lights. We went with 4 bulbs on an Ice cap and 4 on regular t-5 ballasts. Everything is hung on a metal frame just over the water line. We will put on Reef Geek reflectors next week. All the corals are receiving light now!
Its a pain to work in the tank now, but with how wide the tank is coupled with the fact we are growing stuff on the upper back side of the tank, I am happy with the up-grade.
