Planning for future meetings
As the ball gets rolling on the regrouping of Marine Aquariasts in the the Upstate. I think we need to host an open meeting at a larger restaurant (like Carolina Fine Foods in Simpsonville) that has a couple of banquet rooms. My thinking behind this is... new prospective members can show up and the head count won't necessarily matter as much as it would if it were at someones house. As fliers go out and people get the word around, there are likely to be a bunch of prospective members show up that aren't affiliated with any internet forums/message boards. I think we need to assemble a small group to be a interim planning and contact assembly, at least until officers are elected and nominated and people take on Officer responsibilities. I am going to set up a GMail account for the PMAC so that there will be a single email contact for prospective members to get in touch with the club other than TRT,RM and RC. if you are willing to help with the answering of emails, let me know so i can get you the password to the GMail acct

Tony, I'll be glad to help out with that. I think you have a good idea, maybe we should make the March meeting an informal get together to just meet everyone who's interested and elect officers. Only a handful of people have posted here so far, but I bet there's more interested people out there.

I'd like to help too, but I'm still a bit confused as to the change from GRS on RM to the new club. Happy, but confused.

From what I understand, the president and vice president of GRS were no longer able to perform their duties and interest and organization in the club dwindled. At the last meeting, some people proposed forming a new club that dropped the "greenville" name to be more inclusive so that more members would want to participate. We're really hoping that this will be the beginning of a long term club with growing membership.

I agree with you, this is a "cleaner" site and last year it was brought up that we needed to change to be more inclusive, it just never happened even after several nudges by myself and others. I'm glad we are finally getting somewhere. I just don't understand why there are people who are so violently against it?

I tried to post about the new email address for information about the PMAC on RM but my post was blocked. I may be under secret suspension.

i don't think that is the case any longer Tom... you'd really need to see the RM March meeting thread for the details, i don't want to rebring up the info here ATM
