May Group Buy
This group buy is no longer active. Please check this thread for the current group buy for the month of May.

OK folks, time to start thinking about the May Group Buy for the club. The last two buys have been great successes . This month, we are considering a group buy with Aquarium Specialties out of Columbia. The owner has agreed to allow us to come for a tour of the tanks and facility (they just moved to a new warehouse) and a discount on our entire order (livestock and drygoods). We need to decide if we want to go through with this deal or plan for a different one.

I am definitely for this idea, I may very well consider getting a controller and this opportunity of a discount would be too hard to pass up

Depending on the date it is scheduled for, I would love to be able to meet up with you guys there and see what else I may need to satisfy my little addiction.

The date is really up to everybody. We could either vote on a day and then stick with it, or, we could just skip the tour altogether and just do a group order (and some people will volunteer to go pick up all the corals for everyone). I understand that with everyone's schedules, we're not going to find a date where everyone can go. What I really need to know is if everyone (or at least a majority) want to see this group buy happen this month. If not, I will look to set up a different group buy.

I think that would work best, find a date the majority can go and if a couple people would like some items/corals from there and can't go then just get together a list with someone and then arrange to pay them back

The last time I spoke with the owner, he indicated that we would. He said it wouldn't be much, maybe 10%, but that's still a good deal.
Is anybody interested in going down to Columbia to tour and pck up corals? I won't be able to go at this time. I would suggest that we schedule the group buy for a weekend where those poeple who really want to go will be able to. People like me who are more interested in dry goods (controllers) would be secondary since we would receive our orders as shipments through the mail.

For me it's going to be dry goods only... done with adding anymore corals for a little while. My system needs to settle down for a couple months after i add the Calcium reactor (hence why i need to buy drygoods ) so if everything goes as planned i am going to have the $$$ to buy an ACIII in the next week or two

Niiice, I think I may end up getting the AC Jr. - I may have a deal in the works to get a used one someone has for sale, but if it falls through I may just say screw it and get a new one.

I just looked at the Aquarium Specialty website and saw the AC Jr kit for 257.00, if they take 10% off that I'd have no choice but to take it... it'd be a better deal than the used one I was thinking of getting. Here's hoping!
