Masna Membership
So gang, we are up for renewal on our MASNA membership. Our current status is "Club Member Delegate". What this means is that we get to vote on the BOD for MASNA as well as bid for hosting MACNA here in Greenville (if we ever choose to do so). The membership fee for us is $50/year... so the question is, do we want to continue or let it lapse? Discussion would also be appreciated on what you, the members, think and feel about this.
We have to renew by the 19th if you all want to renew.

Well, I am a new member of MASNA (individual) but only because of better seating for lectures at the next MACNA. None of the listed benefits for the club being a member is really beneficial right now... so I wouldn't worry about it this year... IMO of course.

Is there a difference in price to renew and reapply?

No, no difference in price, but going through everything and setting it up can be a PITA.
There are other benefits to being a member, not just the couple I mentioned.

I think hosting MACNA in Gville would be a beautiful thing? I'd sponsor something like this or a BIG ***** frag conference and throw in $1k just for the fun of it, and the advertising(it is hard to find a good outlet for us retailers) if it was legit and we could have a good time doing it Gville is a beautiful city with nice amenities. The upstate of SC is one of the best areas of this country IMO! I think this would also give the membership and leaders something to get excited about, participate in, and recieve a huge benefit from some good ole fashion hard work... MASNA makes our club more legitimate IMO. I plan to attend MACNA Orlando even though it is a "consumer" show bc it is the cutting edge of the hobby and a great way to teach an old... or relatively young aquarist new tricks
Cheers,

So since it looks like no one cares (only 6 votes!) then there simply is no real reason to join MASNA again..

I'm for it, I don't know how we would go about hosting MACNA, but it sounds fun.
