Haha, wouldn't getting rid of the problem be easier then buying snails to rid the product of the problem?

I have them Tony and they don't touch the stuff. Nothing to do but keep up with the water changes.

I got this under control Brandon... the problem isn't something that was in my control (other than i could have cooked my rocks for a much longer period of time) I can assure i am well aware of how to get rid of it. In asking about the Nerite snails, the ReefScavengers site says they eat Cyano, so I thought i would give them a shot to get rid of the remaing Cyano in my tank, but i have come a LONG way from what the tank looked like about 2 months ago. BTW, i have an Octopus skimmer as well, and NW200 to be exact..

Hey Tony, the Nerites won't touch the stuff. They seem to stay on the glass more than anyplace else, eating that film algae stuff. I bought them hoping they would help me out by eating it but no such luck, and I have a bunch of them.

Tony, bristle-toothed ( Ctenochaetus spp.) tangs, but in reality, your tank may be too small for one of them... not only will they eat cyanobacteria, but most substrate-growing algae in general and detrital mulm on the bottom. Their "dentition" and their jaw structure makes it easy for them to eat films of unicellular algal mats that are scooped off the substrate or scraped off hard surfaces.
Koles, white-tiled bristletoothed tangs, etc.

we do have nerites, but i do not believe they eat cyano... sorry for the slow reply been outa town.
The nerites are great little snails, but i haven't seen them doing that. My dad just picked up some yellow tipped hermits from LA and he said they are jumping right on it (they advertise them to do this) i don't know much about them but he says they are working. I may try to get craig to order some of these next week. i'll let you know.
