scrap plastic

so i was in tap plastics this past saturday looking for 6in tube for a skimmer. while looking through their scrap bin i found a few good sheets of 12x12 acrylic. they look like they're 3/8th inch. when i found out that saturdays are scrap plastic sale days at TAP i just couldn't walk out empty handed. 8 sheets, a quart of weldon 4, a few hypodermic tybe bottles and $26 later i was heading to my car with a smile.

i don't have any set plans yet, but i do want to make it with a built in refugium, sump, and skimmer. i have no idea how i'm going to do that.

the blade on my table saw will also need to be changed out. the one i have on now chips plastic like crazy.

a 12x12x12 cube holds 7.5 gallons. i've never had a nano tank so this will be totally new to me. i plan on soft corals unles i can find a decent deal on a small metal halide light. i also have no idea how to work with plastic so i'll have to research that a little more. wish me luck

In an acrilic tank that'll help keep sand from scratching it

Now that's a plan that I can get behind!

And why I don't have acrilic tanks

any sugestions on what type of blade i shoud get for my 10" tablesaw? i hear the more teeth the better but is there an upper limit on teeth? there are 200 tooth blades at sears, but it seems like it'd just melt the plastic before it'd cut it.

Welcome to the Build off

I think crvz is the one to answer the saw blade question I know he has at least 1 thread on building an acrylic sump

welcome aboard
That 200 tooth blade will be just fine. That's what I use on my table saw Just raise it pretty high. I raise mine about 2 inches above the material so it doesnt melt back together

Well I'll do my best. You're table saw can probably use a smaller blade as well. I used a plastics/laminates blade made by dewalt. It's only about $8 and I found it easily at home depot. It fit on my 10" tablesaw, and it looks just like this;

are you using a 7 1/4 blade on a 10" saw or is that picture just an example?
