OK.........so after reading today's " flatworm exit disaster" thread on the GD board, I freaked out about using flatworm exit. I went back an fourth with my husband about using it ......he never wavered in saying I should use it ......... I just didn't want anything to happen to my tank.
So.........
I bought some after work and stared at my tank for a while clutching the bottle in my hand. With new carbon and 5g's of water standing by, I dosed my tank and Danyen had me go to the living room so I don't obsess about the tank.
30 minutes later.....POOF flat worms dying......tank inhabitants happy. After an hour i put in the new carbon and after 1 1/2hr i did a 50% water change. So far no sign of flatworms and everyone else is recovering well.
As promised, here is a pick of my Pom Pom Crab:

Not the best picture......it was sitting in the corner of the tank, where the glass curves.
Here is the purging Zoa, it's looking a bit better today, started opening a bit more:
My panic over the health of a coral just shows..........I'm NOT ready for children.

I think it is quite natural for a mother to panic about its babies heath, for fish, coral, or human babies.

Oh love your crab...they're so cute with their little nems. Cool pics. Things are loking good. I'm glad you managed to get rid of the worms too without hurting anything else. Good job.

Let's talk fuge
I've ordered my fuge light, i went with the submersible light in my previous post. Here is a picture of what the three chambers in my biocube look stock:
I pitched the bioballs a long time ago, i replaced them with LR as a temporary fix until i could put in the fuge. So i have spent countless hours reading build treads for the biocube 8 and it seems this guy has the plan I like the most (both pictures of the before and after chambers came from his tread). So here is the plan for the fuge:
This is what i want in the end. To start it out, I will put in the LR, the Cheato, carbon and filter floss. I have a heater already, but it doesn't fit in the first chamber. I will eventually get the 25w Visi Therm Stealth but it's not a priority. I'm not going to immediately upgrade the pump either.....but I will put in a Mini-jet 606. I'm also going to increase the flow between chamber 1 & 2 by cutting away some of the divider. The only thing I may never do, but is in the picture, is the Hydor flow, I most likely won't add that.
So that's the plan...........any input?????

I still have some flat worms, so this weekend I'm going to dose with flatworm exit agian.
I put some new shells in the tank for my hermits, the blue legs moved right in, I'll get some pictures.
My next purchase will most likey be 1-2 scarlet hermits.....if i can find them small.

The light will be submerged directly into teh center chamber with the Cheato.
As far as the pump.........that seems to be the never ending discussion between BC8 owners. The stock pump runs 106gph. The Mini-jet 606 runs up to 160gph. I always hear conflicting reports from people as to whether a more powerful pump is too much in the small nano's. perhaps it really depends on how your aquascape is.
The thing i like about the mini-jet is that it will fit in the third chamber of my tank. If I upgrade anybigger i will have to have it sitting in the display part of the tank....... and i'm already strapped on space.
I've read a few threads from people who just use a Koralia Nano, those run 260gph (and take up less space in the display), but it seems most people complain about it being too much in their Nano (it seems the majority of people who really like that pump have a min 10g tank.)
So all that to say ................. I may have a project in trying different pumps. I have so little space, I'm afriad of creating a sandstorm.

The Fuge has arrived
Ok so friday was a big day for my tank, i redosed w/ flatworm exit, then did a 50% wc. I'm happy to say that so far there is no sign of any flatworms
Once that was finished it was time to set up the fuge. I used the dremel to put two holes in the drip tray. Originally I was going to make the holes large enough to drop the lights into the chamber. But then i realized I should just install the light's so that they are attached to the drip tray. Like so:
Here's what they look like under the drip tray:
Then I cut a knotch out of the hood to make room for the cord:
And voila, we have a fuge:
I still have to widen the flow from chamber 1 to 2, but it's coming along.
