My 2 gallon sphere
I finally decided to do it. What the heck?
The display tank will be a 2 gallon plexiglass ball. I found it at one of the houses I remodeled. It is one of those yard ornaments, you know the shinny round balls that sit on top of ceramic stands? This one is just clear. I'll get a pic up soon. The plan is not set in stone yet. I will build a small stand for it with a sump. It will be auto topped off with kalk. Probably from an inverted coke bottle. Because it will be viewable from 360 degrees the plumbing will come up through the center of the ball. Even the power cord for the lights will have to come up through the pipe. There will be a small sand bed in the bottom with some LR. There will be some hairy shrooms 2 very young clown fish. I have larger tanks I can move them to when needed. There will also be other small hardy corals. The lighting will be a 20W 50/50 compact florescent. I will also build a tiny skimmer for the sump. Most of this build will come from spare parts I have laying around. I think it should look pretty cool when I'm done.
Let me know what you think.

Welcome. glad you joined in. I'm really eager to see pictures, this tank sounds like it's going to be really interesting to look at. What a great idea.

Thanks everyone.
As promised, here is the 2gl sphere. Soon to be my nano.
It needs some serious cleaning, but I think it can be done. One problem I thought of is, how am I going to clean the coraline algae off the inside?

I know, I know...before you do anymore get on old credit card. Put it in a pot of boiling water 'til it softens...then mold it to the inside shape of the bowl then drop it in ice water to harden in that position. I often use cards to clean my glass.';-)
