Mustang Girls 12G Nano Cube...
Ok...so the thread isn't locked yet...I guess that means I can still sneak this in???
My wife (Pinky70, just signed her up) is getting a used 12G cube tonight. She was originally thinking about just putting freshwater in it, but after looking around at LFS I think she has decided to go reef .
Will post pics once we/she takes delivery.

Man, I can not believe how many entries there are this year! Good luck Pinky, make sure jincho lets you have some say in your tank.

Thanks for the warm welcome, I can't wait to get my own tank setup.
We got the cube and all the pieces tonight except no bulb. Have to try and find one tomorrow or order one (don't want to wait!).
Oh, and I picked up a really cute little pseudochromis tonight too that will live in JNicho's sump for a little while.
Don't worry I have my eye on some hubby's stuff (I mean he said it was mine when he talked me into buying it!!!!) LOL

Welcome to TRT Pinky and good luck with your entry!
There you go jnicho, you had no idea what you were getting yourself into when you started this. I started my wife out with a seahorse tank and now she is always shopping in my reef looking for the next item she can try to raise in her tank.

Welcome to TRT Pinky!
I'm sure your hubby won't mind too much provided you just take frags not whole peices
Good luck finding a bulb! Do you have pics of the new setup?

Hello all,
Well I was lucky enough to find a bulb at a LFS. In fact I ended up with a 32W instead of the 24W that came with the cube originally, and since the ballast is rated at 35W I figured bigger was better!
I swiped a really neat big chunk of LR out of hubby's (JNicho) sump. It has lots of holes/caves and ledges on it and is just a really cool shape. I decided to go with the "less is more" approach and only use this one big rock in the center of the tank. This also leaves space for smaller "frag" rocks (which you will see are already filling in around the edges).
We have been all over town in the last few days to all the "good" LFS's checking stuff out. So here is what I have in terms of livestock so far: Fragged some Monti Cap, Xenia and colt from hubby's tank. My LFS outings also yielded a Diadema Pseudochromis, cleaner shrimp and 3 astrea snails. In the coral department I picked up some purple mushrooms and some really bright green "bumpy" mushrooms. I also found some baby frags of star polyps and bright green zoanthids. Today we went to my favorite LFS and came home with our (my) most expensive coral purchase to date. I found a rock with five different blasto's on it! When they told me they would sell it to me for almost 20% off (cash talks at this store!) I just had to have it. Unfortunately the pics don't even begin to do justice to the colors on these guys, but you can get an idea.
So enough chit chat and on with the photos.
Day 1: Adding sand and water, Woo Hoo!
Day 1: The "Rock".
Day 3: Mini Cycle already done (gotta love using LR etc. from an established source) and first corals and my fishy are in.

OOPS!!! It seems Hubby was still logged in! Oh well!
So on with the photos.
Day 4: FTS with Blasto's!!!
Green "bumpy" mushroom:
More of my 'shroom rock:
Zoanthids:
The Infamous Blasto rock!!!:
Another angle of the blasto's:
Lastly, a shot of my little fishy:
Hope you enjoy the photos as much as I'm enjoying my tank. I can see now why you reef nuts do this. I have always loved looking at my husbands (and others) tanks, but it's much more exciting to have your own!

NO doubt, I asked my husband tot set up a tank cause i thought it would be something nice to look at ........... now I've got my own nano and have been overcome by the obsession.
Tank looks great, look forward to seeing it come together.
