Wow! Very cool I love this setup,.. I've always loved the look of a stand and hood that are incorperated like that.
This is going to be great! Awsome work

Thanks for the compliments guys!
Haha, I was wondering when comments like fish.freak's were gonna start. But, unfortunately, I'm at a standstill.
I'm a mere 10 days away from moving across the country (Detroit -> Portland, OR), so of course I'm waiting...impatiently. The day I arrive, I plan to get the tank setup and locate a few LFS to get the remainder of the necessities to start cycling. Since I'm using dry rock, that will give me time to get the rest of the stuff like the AC Jr., etc...
Don't worry, I may be a late bloomer, but I'll finish strong!

Remember to seed your dry rock with a piece or two of live rock.

Woh! Ya, no kidding your waiting. I was up in Portland just a few weeks ago,. definitally check out a store called "UpScales" great place for SPS frags and such,.. some of their dry goods are a little overpriced, but nothing outragious.
I would reccomend at least getting a pound or two of real live rock to help the cycle, plus this will bring in all the neat bugs like pods
Good luck with the move!

Definitely with you guys on the LR, but may go the rubble route. I'm really trying to dodge starting an aptasia farm, but at the same time I'm not sure if just live sand is 'complete' enough. I know this is n00bie paranoia since the good of LR usually outweighs the bad, but I'd prefer to avoid the pests. This attempt may be futile since I'm sure one or two will eventually hitch a ride on something I put in the tank anyway...
Thanks for the tip on UpScales, Whiskey. SPS is certainly on the agenda for this tank.

Thanks. I noticed you were in the area...about 2hrs south?
And probably more like 14 days. By the time I get settled, get a cabinet/table/stand to put it on, etc...and this is after the 37hr drive

have you done a water test yet? The only concern I have with your set up is the heat from the ballasts under the tank, but I'm sure you can figure something out.

Don't worry, I took this into account when designing...and it is indeed a valid concern!
If you go back to my pics on page one, you'll see that I've mounted fans on top of the ballast box to assist the two in-box fans. The in-box fans are pushing directly out the rear of the stand, with the top fans also pushing to the rear. Keeps the under tank temp right at ambient - no issues.
With the fans off, the temp below the tank is easily 10 to 15-deg higher than room temp.
