Dave's Jawfish Nano
I mentioned on another thread that I was toying with the idea of setting up a small tank for the 2 jawfish I just got...well I just bit the bullet and did it! I had some glass laying around so I slapped it together and made a stand. Nothing special, but it's going in my "fishroom" so it doesn't have to be pretty. I just need to let the silicone cure and do a water test, clean it up a little, and I'm ready to go. I'm gonna put a deep (6"+) sandbed in it and hook it up to my frag tank.
Dimensions are 24X9X20--approx. 19 gallons.
Not bad for a day's work...
Best part was, I already had everything except the caulk and plumbing!
What do you think?

Looks great. Where did you get the glass from? Were the edges sanded/ground smooth?
I'm assuming that hole is for overflow. Are you going to drill another for return?

The glass was a little parting gift I took from the place I used to work at before I quit my job. Doing the edges isn't a problem if you have a belt sander. I was going to make this tank a long time ago but decided not to. The hole is for the overflow--the return is just going to hang over the top since it will only have around 200 gph turnover.

I like it. That blue spot jawfish we saw Sunday gave you the bug didn't it? That is going to be too cool. Were you able to get the fish out of the overflow yet, or are you going to wait until the tank is ready?

Yeah, that blue spot's personalilty won me over...I haven't gotten him out of the overflow yet, hopefully everything will be ready tomorrow. I did find the other one today though...by the side of the tank . It was one crispy critter. Managed to jump out despite the eggcrate over my tank.

I don't think it's a very exciting nano since there will be no corals and it will be plugged into an existing system.

What are you going to use for lighting over the new tank? It may be a good place to dump all of your mushrooms.

EDIT:

I'm going to use the same 18 W Coralife that is over my small tank now, although I may buy another one (they're only like $20). That is unless someone happens to have a 24" fixture they want to get rid of...
The toilet is an even better place to drop mushrooms...

Well I'm all hooked up to the frag tank and I got the little guy out of the overflow and into the new tank. It was a traumatic experience for both of us (my overflow is barely big enough to get my hand in) so I'm really not optimistic that he's gonna make it.
