2 really good stores I have encountered:
Of course, everyone knows about That Fish Place on Centerville Rd. in Lancaster. They have everything and good quality stuff, too.
The other I came upon recently was Treasures from the Sea at 5205 East Trindle Rd, Mechanicsburg. Their selection is not as big as That Fish Place but it did appear to be good quality and much closer. Definitely worth a look if you haven't gone there yet. Their hours are Wed 5-9, Thur 1-9, Fri 5-9, Sat 10-8, Sun 11-5. Closed Mon and Tue.

Paradise Island Pets
Paradise Island Pets is changing ownership and name this month. I stoped in this shop yesterday and was not only shocked I was sickened. The store is an all around pet shop selling, dog, cat, fish, reptile, and small animal products. First the prices are double if not triple the price of other surrounding pet stores. But the shock was the condition the animals were in. The have numerous dogs that have sever malnutrition. The majority of their reptiles were also sickly thin. Dont even get me started on the fish. The clerk told me that they let kids buy a FW feeder fish or two so they can feed the large snapper they have in a 150g. I am not only not going back there again but I am concidering calling any authorty I can.

Some threads never die! Long live the thread! Haha. I live just north of Philly and love Capt. Nemos in Norristown. They opened under the Big Als umbrella a couple of years ago and have struck out on their own path. I think it is involved with Aquarium Pharm in some capacity. The place is clean, the livestock healthy and the staff know what they are talking about. If you go to buy - be patient. It is usually pretty busy on the weekends but there are alot of staff on hand. Still takes a bit as they work with each customer. Worth the trip.

The only pet store in Bucks County that I would recommend is "The Hidden Reef " in Levittown Pa . There is nothing else around here worth going to .

Dont know if anyone stiil reaidng this thread and most of yous seem to be form the Southern part of the state but if anyone is form the Northern end. Up here in Erie there is a small store called Aquadrome. The owner Dave is not only very reasonable with his pricing, but is also a virtual Wilkipedia, in his wn right, of knowledge. He has a website aquadromeonline.com

if u are near allentown, there is a town called northampton. there is a fish store called something fishey. they have an amazing selection, it is honestly the best store in the world. they are strictly saltwater, they have alot of liverock, they have tank full of just corals, full of fish, full of everything. they sell fish at a good price and corals at a good price. they have their own site too,

I have been in many of these stores in PA....From Pittsburgh to Harrisburg....But this store blows me away.....every tank just as pristine as you can imagine...and thats a lot of tanks....I found this place by accident.....My Son lives in erie ...about 100 miles away from me.....this store is two blocks from his house.....The owner has a reef tank set up that is actually roped off to the public......there is more colors in this tank then I have ever seen.....can not be described.....a must see....The owners are a husband and wife team who have been there since 75 I believe.....very friendly and knowlegable......ever in the area stop and check this place out.

I live in southeastern Pennsylvania and there are two main stores in this area: Captain Nemo's and The Hidden Reef. I am partial to Captain Nemo's because I think the staff are generally more knowledgable and more into saltwater, but I often end up at The Hidden Reef due to their better prices on equipment and livestock. Both stores are great though, and I would recommend both.
One store to stay away from is The Fish Factory. While their prices are considerably lower on SOME items, their fish are neglected and not in the best of conditions. I saw more dead fish at that store than I have at any other store in my life. They have a mandarinfish in the display tank out front, and it is starving to death. It's stomach lines are clearly visible, and the stomach is completely sucked in. It does not have that healthy shape that it should. Their mandarinfish in the back of the store is in a tank about 4"x4"x4"... and there are A LOT of fish in tanks that small. I was disgusted, as was my girlfriend. Please do not shop at this store.
I would also avoid the Petco in Willow Grove, PA. When I was still ignorant to a lot of the ways of the saltwater fish world, I bought a sebae anemone there (which is still in good health and has now turned brown) and watched the guy pick the foot off of a piece of live rock with his thumb. It was definitely slightly injured when I brought it home. I later complained to the store manager and asked that they not have saltwater fish and inverts if they cannot maintain the proper staff.
