hey i have a 12 gallon reef tank and i have recently seen these tube like things on my live rock but they do not move, i think they seperate and spread around. they dont look harmfull but one in particular has grown on top of a coral and the coral wont come off because of it, and i cannot pick it off.Any suggestions of what it is and how to cure it?

haha. :P Seriously though we will be better able to help you if we can see pictures. Could be a type of tube worm or a feather duster?

Are they small and coiled up with a little "feathery" creature that sometimes extend out the end of the tube? Without pictures, it really sounds like small feather dusters. They're harmless and will attach themselves to any hard surface, be it glass, live rock, or even corals sometimes. I wouldn't worry about the one on the coral, unless it's somehow adversely affecting the health of the coral. As Nick (firsthesitation) said, pictures would be helpful.
Welcome to LARK, by the way!
-Joe

welcome to LARK. there are a lot of things that grow in a reef over time. Some things dont take long either so yes pics help a ton. I think you have to have 15 posts or more to post pics so get typing lol.

This could get very confusing with ReefLuvR and now reefluver... At first I thought maybe Jen lost her account info and made a new name.
In addition to what the others are thinking it could be... It also could be a sandworm (if it is taking some of your sand and making itself a tube off of the coral or rock) which is a harmless critter.
But, a picture would definately simplify this search. Feel free to google the options that we have put before you to see if any of them fit what you are talking about and if not just take a picture and we will be able to give you a proper Identification of your critter.
Welcome to the club!
Jason
