Tank Move wanna help?
I will finally be moving my tank from a 75 gallon to a 90 gallon on Sunday. The 75 gallon is going into the basement as a sump and my MR-2 will finally be hooked up. Jason is coming to help me with the plumbing and I was hoping to get a few other helpers. Anyone care to join us? I will provide beer, pizza, pop and of course my glowing personality Jason is planning on meeting me around 10:00 to goto menards and get the plumbing materials needed. If anyone has any extra trash cans for water holding temporarily that would be great as I am trying to figure out where I am storing the water during the transfer. I have 90+ gallons of fresh salt ready to go, obviously Iwill not be using all of that since I will be keeping the old water but I am ready

I plan on being there, probably a bit after the menards trip to help out. Do you need me to bring any tools?

I have some bits, depending on what you need it for. For glass, I do not, but for wood I have some bits. If this is for your floor, I've got a spiral saw that would work best for punching the floor for the drain/return. Let me know.

I have the glass bits, but I don't have to drill anyways unless I were to do a closed loop, but I have a custom flo kit to emulate a closed loop so that should not be a problem. I just need something to cut through the floor Condi, I would have felt bad if you drove all that way just to help me, I certainly would not have turned it down but I would have felt bad

Yes, I will 100% be there as I told you the other day is was a high 95% that I would be able to make it. I'll bring my hacksaw, utility knife, tape measure, and I'll bring two bottles of the home brew I made a few weeks past (it's pretty good stuff) to pass around to whomever wants to give it a try (tastes vaguely similar to that of an Appley Samuel Adams with a Cleaner Finish).
Other than that I'll see whoever decides to go on Sunday as it should be a good time!

Thank you soo much Jason!! I really appreciate it seeing how I will have the exact same setup as you besides a smaller tank and an MR-2 rather than an MR-3. Thanks to all that are coming as I get very stressed about tank moves and your support/help is appreciated!

good luck. My Nephew has a baptism otherwise that sounds a little fun..... the beer that is. I've moved a few tanks in my time and grew a few extra grey hairs thanks to that.

You are correct in saying that you and I will basically have the same setup other than for the display tank lol. And where you are putting your sump will be a kitty corner in comparison to directly below. It shouldn't be a huge deal though... Biggest expense at Menards will be Unions (as I told you before) and the pipe itself. The fittings aren't really that expensive as it will just be a lot of pipe running. I'll have to look at how you want to place your skimmer so I know how you want that actually physically placed. If you want it like mine I came up with a pretty ingenious idea of using a "P" trap that you would typically use on a shower or a sink drain so that the elbow of the skimmer can be put at ANY angle instead of 22.5,45,90,180 only. (Had to think of something as the direction mine uses is somewhere around 160 degrees *very odd I know*)
Anyhow, see you guys Sunday.

This really sounds fun and I have been meaning to see your set-up but this Sunday is already booked for me. Maybe next time or you may need some help later. Be sure to take lots of pics and keep everyone posted.
