As Matt stated, a Shop-Vac is a must have! I recently picked one up and man does it make it easy to suck out the detritus that collects in my sump.

My RO unit is up and running and ive already done about 50 gallons water changed in 2 days. I will be doing a 35% water change today with all new water. Coral look great this morning, and fish are active, and best of all, no cyano lol.

i took the shopvac advise and used mine on the left and right sides of the sump, were the pumps and overflo portion are. you were all right, it works great. Im currently working on water return line from the room down the hall, were the RO water is made, an running that to the tank in the living room. Its going to be 3/8ID white tubing ran in the corner were the wall and ceiling meet, and then ran down behind the tank into the sump. A pump of about 300GPH will be used to push the water. This is for Top offs only. At this time, im still doing water changes the good old way, 5 gallon buckets and a syphon lol. Works just fine.

lol. all i do is drop a small pump in my sump and run a hose out my front door....lol

yeah, but this is Wisconsin, and even Salt Water freezes on the way out the door with the weather we've been "enjoying"...it was -30 something last week.

boy i can just see it, me taking the trash out, and whooop right on my can, with the garbage bag in the face lol.
