shrimp stocking
I have a question for everyone. Right now, as far as inverts go, I have one fire shrimp and one emerald green crab, and a few snails/hermits in my 29g. I'd like to add another shrimp that I will actually be able to see. The fire is beautiful but hides all the time. Will a coral banded kill the fire? There are lots of places to hide and a lot of caves for a tank this size. Let me know what you think.

Did I ever tell you about the time Brasky went hunting? Well anyway, Brasky decides he's gonna hunt down all four members of the Banana Splits. He stalks and kills every one of them with a machete. They all beg for their lives, except Fleagul.

My Skunk Cleaners come out quite often, but my fire shrimp stay hidden at least until feeding time. I have kept coral banded shrimp without any issues as well, but I don't not have one currently.

Coral bandeds and arrows are supposed to be some of the most agressive. I remember when I had my CBS I put other shrimp in and never saw them again.

What else would you add for a little color/movement besides fish? Do reg. cleaners stay out in the open a little more? I just enjoy watching all the little "creatures" crawling about.
btw... I got a lead on a used 72 gal bowfront with stand that I'm looking at tonight.

Skunk cleaners are nice to have plus they come out regularly. Ours is huge now and i hand feed him quite a bit. Just pinch the flake food in between your fingers and let them pick it off. They are quite humorous. OTP in Lacrosse usually has some on hand and he is about the cheapest you can find.

Really? That is odd-my big one never hides-it is out all the time, and as soon as it sees you messing with the tank it is RIGHT THERE and climbs all over my arm when I am moving something, or what not.

My two skunk cleaner shrimp are constantly running around the tank out in the open. They do spend some time behind the rockwork, but not more than maybe 30-40% of the time. Even then, it's never more than a minute or two until you see them back out in the open for a bit. I find them incredibly entertaining, especially when you stick your hand in the tank and they clean it for you.

The only actual time that my cleaners are "hiding" is when the lights FIRST go out.. Otherwise 90% of the time they hang outside the rockwork (typically in the exact same spots at all times). One perches by the frogspawn, the other two sit next to the carpet anemone daring each other to jump in. lol.

My clownfish took food from my fingers and fed it's anemone. Then one of the cleaners went right over and took it out with the clownfish just looking and watching.

HAHAHAHA. My two cleaner shrimp are constantly moving over the RBTA "cleaning" it... I don't even feed it because I know the food would be stolen by the cleaners. So, I just let it catch bits of mysids and shrimp as I feed the fish in the tank. As entertaining as my cleaner shrimp are, they sure don't share well with others.
