Painting the back of a tank - Page 3

odie,

I thought about doing mirrored for my new frag tank and the smaller frag tanks but decided not to do anything on the 40 gallon and I painted the acrylic ones a light blue. I might be tempted to try mirrors around the 40 gallon or at least in the back to see what it does.

Yeah I think it would be ideal for a non-fish tank. But not good for fish. But might help with a tang or hawkfish that is being fiesty etc.

If the tank is empty, have you thought about laying the tank on the front part so you can have a flat surface to paint? Then you could put a thicker layer on and not worry about runs or drips.

Is that ok to do on a larger tank like a 6 foot 125 gallon?

what? putting the tank on its face?? It wont be a problem as long as you places a couple blankets to prevent scratches. Make sure the tanks on mostly a level surface to begin with and that should be fine. Don't sit or stand on the back side while you pain and I don't see any problems with that.

I tried a mirrored back, it was awesome! Made my reef go on forever. However, my bi-color blennie kept trying to attack the "other" blennie, so I took it down. Here's a pic with a temporary mirror I hung behind my tank a few months ago.
