only time will tell

Ok I thought I would finish off my sump and add some base to it. I added Fiji mud and mineral mud to it. Well first off let it sit for along long long time. I didn't and it made the tank all brown. Light was not getting through yesterday. So I killed some of the pumps to let that settle down. Today things look better. I turned on a another pump because my Big Green coral(from brian) was on its side and black. Now the base has been kinda black for awhile I don't know if that was a sign but even now the top is still bright green. I'm leaving my lights on a few hours longer hopeing that will help. I don't know if it was already having problems or if this is a result from yesterday. even with the base black before is was still strong. today though it isn't..... FYI all the other corals are fine.

Hope everything turns out ok, haven't done anything with "mud" in the sump/refugium so I have no idea.

The leather I purchased from Chris started doing the same thing. Polyps stopped extending and I had that black nasty crap almost to the top of the stalk. (toadstool) I finally got fed up and gently scraped the black scabby stuff off with an unsharpened pencil, and then placed it in my nano. Two days later it opened up and now looks fantastic. Now I am just debating if i should add it back to the bigger tank.

well for an update. Its dead. I tried to frag a few parts off this morning. I attempted to remove the base from the rock most of that fell off. there is the white center though still attached so I'll see if that does anything.

sounds like it got an infection of some kind, or a pest that bore its way through it. For every coral we keep there is a pest to attack it

Sorry to hear that it didn't make it. There are enough of us around with that coral these days that you won't have too tough of a time getting a new piece if needed.
