I am 100% sure that it is neither a pocillipora nor a stylopora. Neither of these corals pool out at the base. They are both climbing corals meaning the base just calcifies and it grows upwards. It has to be some form of an acro just based on this. What I have not figured out yet... But, I'll keep thinking and I might be able to ask a buddy of mine who runs a coral farm in California as he may have an idea.

This one is...though my own thin branch ones don't, my lobed one which is similar does indeed have base pooling. I wonder if the lobed varieties do spread?

Hrmmm that's the first time I've seen a pocillipora puddle (EVER)... I wonder if a person were to mount a frag upside-down on a plug if they would puddle... I think I'm going to try that to see if I can duplicate it.

i didnt think it was a kind of pocillopora when i saw it...idk tho..i m not a coral wiz-YET. i thought it was acro related...idk tho. i will have to get some new pix on here since everything is looking better already. (especially the toadstool) and the algae is off the brain now, and a few more things.

Tamika & Nate,

I can't believe how beautiful and how FAST your tank is growing! Isn't it funny to look back... like even at this thread-opening post! LOL Amazing.
It's easy to sense the excitement going on at your place. There's so many reefers who aren't blessed to have supportive spouses, let alone enthusiastic ones! I'm happy for you guys. Enjoy every minute of it!!

Jennifer

We are still trying to figure out who is more into this..it is really something that we do together...I (tamika) am a little more strict about money...but I also see the up sides to buying pieces. We got a heck of a deal...and it was too darn good to pass up. We are in the process of setting up a 26...and we would like a 75..but that might need to wait a little while. saltwater is my weakness (yes i have a weakness other than my kids...to those of u who dont think i do.. ) We are now at the point, where we cannot fit many if anymore bigger things in our tank (darn it...) and are having a hard time find a place for the new xenia..but it is sooooo pretty and do not want to split up the little colony it has going on. well, yea..thx everyone for comments..n i am SURE i will post more pix in the upcoming weeks. (we got picture happy...)and YES there is a LOT of excitement going on here. i could sit in front of the tank for hours (and occasionally do...and get picked on by friends/family)

You know the yellow one you were wondering about, I think it is green pocillipora, I saw two today that looked just like it at the Rochester meeting, he said they were bleached out and that is why they looked so yellow....
