Nice looking Acan ya got there Timmy... Matt told me that you stopped in yesterday when I talked to him on Yahoo. So, did the harlequins pair up or were they already paired up when you bought them? I know that you were talking about them for a bit but, didn't hear you say if they were a pair already or not.

That's awesome that they were already paired up... Did you just want a pair... or are you ultimately going to attempt to breed them? *call me curious*

I wanted a pair. Just because I think its fasinating how the one won't move more than a few inches away from the other. I never heard of them breeding in a home aquarium, then again I really didn't look for that kind of info. Now I guess I should. If they do breed you can count on a new post on the same day. You have any suggestions on a camera for the fish tank? Mine is so bad you can hardly see the starfish the shrimp is standing on. Looking to keep it under three hundred dollars though.

I have a canon powershot S3 IS...I got it before getting into reefing, but it does fairly well...has macro, and super macro, plus white balance. If you don't have/use adobe photoshop, even if you do, the white balance makes a huge difference. The canon G9-G10 or whatever they are up to now is one of the BEST, all around NON d-slr cameras. Check it out...tons of settings.

I have a Canon Powershot A470 from Walmart, think it was $100. Look at my album to see pix from it. Even has an "Aquarium" setting.

I'd definately recommend a Cannon EOS 50D with a 100 MM Macro Lens.
$1699+$399=$2098. Perfect Good thing you got money leftover from going up to fosters.

yeah, that, or the Nikon D90...but you'll spend $500 on the "cheap" macro alone...that's a lot of frags to sell...ok, a lot of colonies!

As that would be my dream setup I wasnt entirely serious unless you're looking to drop that kinda dough. I've gotten a lot of good pictures with PAS cameras too, most of the new ones have a lot of the settings the SLR's have on them just in different ways. You definitely want something with a high pixel rating, good optical zoom (digital zoom only messes with pixels it isnt actually zooming into the image), and ease of use. Like I said, a lot of them have the more advanced settings on them now.

what are all the places you are looking at needing a camera for? Do you need a PAS, one thats considered close to a full SLR, or a true SLR. Does it have to be new? There are some nice D40 and D60 on ebay for $360 and up. The d40 has had alot of great reviews and alot of people have used that one for up close shots. My sony h5 I'm happy with but back in the day it was around 500, it was one of them considered to be close to a full slr but it still had a ways to go. I have taken over 2500 shots with it. I like it but I really do wish it was a SLR. Like what the others have posted here alot of other cameras have some slr functions but you don't have the processor speed. Depending on your use the higher pixel rating isn't going to do that much for you unless your printing and shooting in RAW format. The higher the pixel the larger the file size. Yes its higher resolution but lets look at what your looking to do. Will you do alot of printing or posting of pics. I post here I usually reduce the pics by 60-70% 6meg pix is good. If your looking for a POS something with a higher optical is always nice to have for outdoor use. one the low end they seem to push the 3x optical but you don't get much use out of that I believe. How ever if you are looking for something thats just for Macro shots and lower in price there are some out there. You will be limited on the Macro zoom and the processor speed.
