My Trophy

I hope the pics do this guy justice. He was over 14 inches long, and when he streched from one rock to another it seemed he could double his length. It took me over a month to catch him. He was getting so brave he would come out during the day. A snail would be on his rock so it would come out and just feel what was going on. Thats when I knew he had to go.

That is intense! It looks like it broke in two, did you get all of it from the tank? I've seen some amazing damage that those type of worms can invoke, kudos on catching it!

You must have jinxed me Timmy... I just caught the one that was roaming around in my tank!

Not nearly as large as that of yours but, 6" stretched out is big enough for my 70 gallon tank

Here's what it looks like.

Keep in mind this is a 1 gallon Ice Cream Pail

Wow. Not nearly as long as the 6' worm caught a few years ago by Steve Weast (oregonreef.com), but way bigger than I want in my tank. I think yours is the new (unofficial) local record.

Definately not something that I'm proud of... But, better out than in I always say. Took me almost as long to get rid of it... But, I wasn't trying all that hard... I actually got a VERY good look at it last night thus I was so adimate about getting rid of it. I thought I had it this past weekend and cooked one of my rocks thinking that I had it.. *guessed wrong*. But, this time I watched the thing going back and forth between the rocks and then stopped in a small crevice (not a hole) and stayed there for a while so I slowly started moving rocks (keep in mind the thing is in the rock all the way on the bottom of my stacks *OF COURSE*) and got to the rock where I saw it and sure enough it never moved when I moved all of that rock. Called Jen downstairs to get my a bucket because if the thing decided to bail I wanted to make sure it was in the bucket. All I had to do was shake the rock and it just fell out thank goodness. I made sure I got my revenge on it though. I found out that these worms definately do not like freshwater and DEFINATELY do NOT like Hot then Cold shockings of water =))))))))))))).

Type of worm I'm unsure of. I figured that someone would inform me. When I saw it the first time I just thought it was a giant bristle worm... But, this doesn't look like any other bristle worm I have in the tank. Anyone got any ideas?

The 6' worm that was caught was a Eunicid worm. Here's the link to check it out and see if your worm is the same type. http://www.oregonreef.com/sub_worm.htm

Yup looks just like the one that I pulled out of my fiji rock... Luckily mine was very small (hoping it will be the only one as well). Only difference in the one on that page on mine is color. But, it's probably because of that one's age that it's so dark.
