Metal in the sump
Question: I have a small piece of metal in my sump that is underwater. It is a stainless steel clamp that clamps the hose to my return and I do know that they oxidize over time......is this crucial to my system?? It is a tiny chunk of metal.....but I dont want that to ruin my tank if it can!! What else can I use to clamp that hose??

is it on the return side or the intake side of the pump? if on the intake you might be able to just use a zip tie on it......if its on the return side....im not sure since it has pressure on it.....

Thanks, I appreciate it. Is the small piece of metal in the sump a problem though?

A single clamp won't cause any problems. I've used to have one in my tank for years and most people here know that most corals thrive in my tank. In fact, many old time reefers used to keep a few nails in their tanks instead of adding iron supplements. Not that everything that people did in the past were ideal though.
