melting xenia

Jen there isn't enough to frag. I'm not sure it that would stress it more. On the plus side, its looking a little bit better. stringy still but better. but with the skimmer off for a few days I'm sure everything else is up. who knows if that will even help. I just wish that other frag was still around. Maybe i'LL have to try to move stuff around in the tank.

Well hopefully it does perk back up a bit. I'd hate for it to wither completely on ya =(.

Aaron, I was reading an article by Julian Sprung last night and he said that a low PH is often the cause of melting Xenia. He stated that a PH of lower than 8.2 can often be attributed to Xenia die off.

Check iodine/iodide levels, keep between 75-79 degrees, keep in strong lighting, and make sure they are not directly in your water flow. I have also noticed in the past that some xenias like a higer alkalinity. Just make sure you try everything slowly.

Long story short I ended up loosing mine. I just cant see spending 65+ to get a frag to replace it.
