I know that when some people cut them they keep the colonies in a shallow container of water so that the coral at least stays in water for part of the time... I think that this very same thing is what happened with my acro. I think I may have had it out too long and thus it was unable to recover. So, I'm agreeing that with the cap pieces I think if you had them out for an extended period of time that probably killed the pieces off.

I also think it might be good to let the cuts heal for a day or two before gluing. The heat and chemicals in the glue may have been added stress. For the first attempt, I did use a shallow bowl to let the pieces rest, and that one is doing better.

If you guys want Cactus I have a HUGE piece of it.. (like 6" long 3" wide) I will just bring this whole piece along with me if some of you guys are serious about wanting some. I'll cut to order then.

Sure... Like I said I'll just cut to order... otherwise I do have one small frag of the red in my 70 gallon that I would let go for $5 (like 1" round)

Well it encrusts as well as shoots new lobes upwards... So, it's not 100% encrusting if that's what you mean... I'll just post a pic of it to give you an idea.

Here is my red cactus...I have most of it as branching, though it can eventually cover a rock it likes to grow upward/outward. Bad picture

SOLD! also I have a 4 head ricordea...lime green with a bit of purple. There are 4 heads total, 2 are quarter sized, 1 is nickel, and 1 dime, on a piece of plate/shell. The best shot is of the parent, now 3+" so they get big. Asking $30 for all 4 heads!
