First off, see if it is spinning forward or backwards. If it is spinning backwards (sucking in water), that may be causing it to be loud. If that isn't the reason, take the pump out and look over all of the components. I've seen the shaft get worn out and need to be replaced on a Koralia pump. If everything looks good, give it a good cleaning and try running it again and see if it is better.

Ditto on that. I'm guessing the center of the prop has gone a bit out of round. If it has the ceramic like shaft in there carefull when pulling it out. One of mine snapped in two. Mine only lasted about a year before the noise started. But then again you get what you payfor I guess.

mine have the metal shaft in them.....from what i can see just lookin in the tank at it there doesnt seem to be much if any wear....but ill take it apart tomorrow...
if worse comes to worse ill just have to store it as a spare and take one of the MJ1200's off the CPR and run one of them in there for the time being.....
but once i get the cum runnin the cpr will be on the 40 and then ill have to have the mj back on there and get another powerhead for the tank...

OK, don't take this the wrong way because I have done this before... you did get the shaft back into the hole in the front shroud right?

Did I ever tell you about the time Brasky went hunting? Well anyway, Brasky decides he's gonna hunt down all four members of the Banana Splits. He stalks and kills every one of them with a machete. They all beg for their lives, except Fleagul.

actually my shaft come out still attached to the front nose cone...and as far as i can tell its in the whole on the inside...it went together super smoothly and straight....so im guess its in there....
but the whole thing is it was in the tank when it started to make the noise...sounds like an old backpack filter when they are out of water and need to be primed.....

You do have the little plastic piece on the back of the propeller right? Should be a little round plastic disc that fits right on the white part of the back of the prop. If not installed it WILL make lots of noise. I know cause I washed my first 4 down the drain when I took my pumps out to clean them the first time. Its weird cause that piece is not in the assembly diagram.
Good on Hydors part they shipped me new ones for free.

You didnt end up having any little guys laying around the house you can throw in for now? Wanna say I got those rubber ones from Menards for less than a buck. Just in case you cant stand it for like the week or so it'll take to get the washers.
